Gal-Com

Control of planets in the Gal-Com galaxy is divided by several affiliations, each with their own unique items, ships and of course goals and objectives. Every character in the game must choose an affiliation to join, and will work with other members to improve the affiliation. Affiliations can be a good source of help for new players, as more experienced players will often be more than happy to provide a few pointers. Affiliation leaders are responsible for awarding Training XP to their members, as well as guide the affiliation towards its ultimate goals.

Typically controlling large sections of the galaxy, and with the support of numerous allied Factions, Governments engage in diplomacy and negotiation to bring as much of the galaxy under their control as possible. There are three Governments in Gal-Com, the Galactic Empire, the Mandalorian Clans and the New Republic. Governments control planets with political support, and are thus always in competition for planetary control.

Factions make up the majority of the affiliations at Gal-Com, and control planets with industrial development rather than political support. Factions generally will support one of the three governments, and can often be drawn into wars by their benefactors. The factions available vary greatly, from the mysterious Jedi and Sith orders to the credit-obsessed Corporate Sector Authority and Black Sun.

Because each affiliation has unique items, and some have unique options, there are restrictions in place on changing affiliations. A character can only change affiliations once every 3 months. Affiliations also have alignment restrictions, so characters who are too good or evil may be limited in their choices. To change affiliation, you must first travel to a planet controlled by your desired new affiliation. Then, under Character Management, you can edit your character and select the new affiliation. Providing you meet the 3 month requirement, your affiliation will be changed immediately. You can also recieve an invitation from an affiliation, which eliminates the need to travel to their planet (though the 3-month restriction is always in place).
